The Florida Legislature passed the Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative, most people know it as Amendment 2, in 2016 and went into effect in 2017. Since January of 2017, patients could apply to receive a medical marijuana card. However, some people are not sure on how to get a medical marijuana card in Boca Raton.
There are many steps in this process, but once they are completed, then you will be able to legally obtain medical marijuana. If you live in Florida or are a temporary resident of Florida, then you might be eligible to receive a medical marijuana card.
To qualify for the card, you must be diagnosed with a specific chronic illness, terminal condition, or other chronic medical condition in which medical marijuana can provide relief of certain symptoms. A doctor has to diagnose the patient, but it cannot be just any doctor. Patients must be diagnosed by a physician certified by the state to provide medical marijuana recommendations. If you are unsure of which doctors are certified by the state, then go to the Florida Department of Health website for Medical Marijuana Qualified Ordering Physician Search to locate a physician. There are currently 85 medical professionals who are qualified in Boca Raton to provide medical marijuana recommendations.
Once you have your appointment and have been diagnosed, if you qualify the doctor will enter your information in the medical Marijuana Use Registry which will issue you an ID number.
Using the ID number, patients will then apply for their registry identification card. Most patients do this online, but a paper application is available. You must pay an application fee of $75.00 to the Office of Medical Marijuana Use. This step in the process can take about 4 weeks to complete.
After your application is approved, you can fill your medical marijuana order at a licensed medical marijuana treatment center.
