Finding a life-long career is a major step. Thinking about being a naturopathic doctor? Read on to know a few things before you proceed.
The average salary
Naturopathic doctors receive an annual salary of about $95,000, the PayScale says. Chiropractors receive about $67,000 and Quality Control Managers about $60,000. These average salaries will steadily increase to more than $100,000 as doctors gain more experience. Naturopaths who run their own practices also have the opportunity to earn more.
Flexible time and schedule
Naturopaths who run their own practices also have the opportunity to earn more. That’s not just based on skill. For instance, do you open your practice for five days a week? If you need a source of extra income, you can add another day or two to your work week. Keeping your practice open for six days a week and occasionally, for seven days a week, will help increase your income even more. Not a lot of jobs out there offer that earning flexibility.
Education and training
You’ll need to obtain an undergraduate university degree first. After that, you must receive a medical degree from a school approved by your state then complete a course at one of the many accredited naturopathic schools in your area. Once you pass the naturopathic physician licensing examinations and fulfill state licensure requirements, you can open a private practice.
Programs and schools
There are plenty of naturopathic schools you can choose from. If you’re interested, you may want to know more by buying books and watching natural health workshops to get a feel for what you can expect if you pursue a career in naturopathy. Shop at Primitius International for supplies, detox kits, and more. A good resource for health books and kits will be helpful to you once you start attending your classes.
